“In books lies the soul of the whole Past Time: the articulate audible voice of the Past, when the body and material substance of it has altogether vanished like a dream.”
Thomas Carlyle
Edward Stokes’ leading books are in the jacket bars above, given from the top left in reverse chronological order. Through the years, since 1993 in Hong Kong and before then in Australia, his photo-led stories have explored nature and history. Today, Ed Stokes is the Publisher for The Photographic Heritage Foundation.
Edward’s early Australian and Hong Kong books linked his nature and landscape photos with historical narratives. His present books, originated for The Photographic Heritage Foundation, connect historical photos of Hong Kong and Asia with their times – thus bringing back to life the work of earlier photographers.
